Bergschlössl
St. Anton am Arlberg
A SMALL CASTLE IN THE MOUNTAINS…far from everyday life. High up in the mountains, the forces of nature are palpably close; the views are stunning, the fresh breeze invigorating. Take deep breaths in the clear air, feel the purity of the water. And then on home – back to your alpine villa, whose walls have weathered many storms, and witnessed more than 100 years of history.
This is a house that has seen many people come and go – and it welcomes each arrival, at any time of year. Many visitors return, time and again.
When it was first built in 1905, the ‘Bergschlössl’ was still set within a meadow. It was only in the 1930s that the ‘small mountain castle’ became surrounded by the cableways designed to make the Galzig, Valluga, Gampen, Kapall and Rendl mountains accessible for winter tourists. To begin with, the building was an office for the collection of grain taxes; in the fifties, it housed the practice of renowned physician Dr. Hans Schalle, before becoming a family-run guesthouse. Eventually, Johanna and Klaus Moosbrugger-Lettner decided to transform the grandparental property into a beautifully renovated boutique hotel, with a conscious focus on retaining its unique atmosphere.
Today, guests are able to enjoy all of the comforts of modern life within tradition-steeped surroundings. The ‘Bergschlössl’ is as ideal for skiers, hikers and cyclists as it is for motorbike and vintage car enthusiasts, couples, honeymooners, or travellers passing through. Anyone who steps over its threshold will feel a sense of luxury, tranquility and ease – and realise: this is no ordinary hotel.
